2024 Renault Duster Design Patent

2024 Renault Duster design leaked via patent images, India bound

2024 Renault Duster design revealed as the French carmaker files patent for the new generation model. It looks inspired by the Bigster concept and continues to have the rugged appeal like the last two generations.

Renault was one of the first players to enter the compact SUV segment back in 2012. The brand became famous within no time thanks to the popularity of the first generation Duster. The Duster was a VFM package back then during the peak of diesel era. The French carmaker offered 1.5-litre diesel engine in two states of tune. It was frugal, it had great driving dynamics and the rugged appeal of an SUV.

Renault couldn’t keep up with the competition as they didn’t update the Duster according to the new rivals and eventually pulled out the diesel engine option which led to the fall in sales amongst many other reasons. They didn’t even bother to introduce the second generation Duster and lost out on a big opportunity.

Now, Renault is planning to introduce the third generation Duster in India. In fact, India will be one of the global manufacturing hubs for the new gen Duster.

As you can see in the patent images, the new model looks very similar to the Bigster concept. It will get a futuristic front profile with unique LED lighting and quirky grille design. The rugged design elements will continue to be offered like black cladding on the lower-half of the body and functional roof rails.

We hope the interior gets a much more premium look. The outgoing version and specially the first generation model had a basic design and some ergonomic issues. The new one is expected to be loaded with features and might also come with ADAS tech.

The Renault Duster will be available in three engine options in the international market – 1.0-litre turbo petrol, 1.2-litre turbo petrol hybrid and 1.3-litre turbo petrol flex fuel engine. There will be no diesel engine on offer. Renault will also be offering a longer 3-row version of the Duster at a later stage.

The new generation Duster will compete with a wide range of cars in India including Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and the likes.
