2026 Hyundai i20 Leaked Blue

Images of the fourth-generation Hyundai i20 have surfaced online ahead of the model’s official unveiling, offering a detailed look at the hatchback’s new design direction and updated cabin. The next-generation i20 is expected to make its public debut during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Hyundai is an official partner.

The latest i20 moves away from the traditional hatchback styling seen on previous generations and adopts several design elements commonly associated with crossover vehicles. The front and rear sections appear more upright, while extensive black body cladding around the bumpers and wheel arches gives the car a more rugged appearance.

At the front, the hatchback features a full-width LED light bar connecting the headlamps. The lighting units themselves are larger and incorporate Y-shaped daytime running lamps. A similar connected lighting setup can be seen at the rear, where the tail lamps feature distinctive geometric elements. The overall bodywork appears cleaner and less sculpted than the outgoing model, favouring smoother surfaces over sharp character lines.

The leaked images also reveal newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels and conventional pull-type door handles, a feature many buyers continue to prefer for ease of use.

Inside, the new i20 receives a significantly updated dashboard layout. A pair of connected digital displays dominates the cabin, similar to the setup seen on several recent Hyundai and Kia models. The interior also features Hyundai’s latest three-spoke steering wheel design along with a redesigned centre console.

Despite the move towards a more digital cabin, Hyundai appears to have retained several physical controls for commonly used functions, including buttons and rotary dials for improved usability. The cabin shown in the leaked images wears a dual-tone beige and grey theme, while soft-touch materials on key touchpoints are expected to enhance the overall premium feel.

Hyundai has not yet disclosed powertrain details for the new-generation i20. However, it is expected that the current 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines could continue in the global line-up. The vehicle featured in the leaked images carries a TGDi badge, indicating the presence of the turbocharged petrol engine.

Reports also suggest Hyundai is developing a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with provisions for future hybrid applications, although official confirmation remains awaited.

As for India, Hyundai has not announced plans to introduce the fourth-generation i20 in the market. With consumer demand increasingly shifting towards SUVs and crossovers, the company is also focusing on new utility vehicle offerings, including a crossover model based on the Bayon that has been spotted testing in the country.
