Tata Xenon Interceptor Showcased At Auto Expo 2018

Tata Xenon Interceptor showcased at the Auto Expo, primarily designed for the Traffic Police/Emergency Services.

Tata has showcased the Xenon Interceptor which is aimed at the Traffic Police/Emergency Services. The automaker has taken the standard Xenon pick-up trick and given it some changes to suit to the traffic cops. The Interceptor is intended to be a multi-functional emergency vehicle equipped with most of the essentials required during an emergency situation.

First up, there is a new Blue paint scheme with interesting graphics (checked) across the car. The front fascia is similar to the standard Xenon but the Xenon Interceptor gets fog lights, side turn indicators on the ORVMs and black-finished alloy wheels (borrowed from Safari Storme). The cargo deck gets a soft top roof which houses side facing seats (enough to accommodate up to 8-10 passengers). Above the roof, one can also spot a camera and a siren.

Interiors are similar to the standard Xenon but the Interceptor gets silver accents on the centre console and the steering wheel and power windows for all the four windows. Mechanically, the Xenon Interceptor remains unchanged. It still continues to draw power from a 3.0-litre diesel motor that produces 114 HP of power and 250 Nm of torque. The oil-burner comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
