After first unveiling it at the 2018 Auto Expo, Hero has finally launched its premium motorcycle, the Xtreme 200R at a price tag of Rs. 89,990/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company enjoys over 50% market share in the domestic motorcycle segment and with the Xtreme 200R, it is looking to grab a share in the premium bike segment too.

Powering the Hero Xtreme 200R is an all-new 200cc, air-cooled engine that produces 18.14 HP at 8000 RPM and a peak torque of 17.1 NM at 6500 RPM. The power is transferred to the rear wheel by a 5-speed gearbox. The company claims a 0-60 km/hr timing of 4.6 seconds with the top-speed rated at 114 km/hr. The engine also features balancers to ensure smooth power delivery by cutting first order vibrations.

The Hero Xtreme 200R comes with a sporty headlight, LED pilot lamps and LED tail lamp with guide lights and an analogue-digital information cluster. In addition, the bike has a contoured seat for improved ergonomics and seating comfort for rider and pillion. To add to the appeal, the bike can be bought in any one of the five dual-tone colour schemes – Panther Black with Cool Silver, Panther Black with Red, Sports Red, Charcoal Grey with Orange and Techno Blue.

Hero has even taken care of the safety aspect and provided the Xtreme 200R with a single-channel ABS as standard. The ABS controls the 276 mm front disc brake while the rear gets a 220 mm disc brake that together provide the bike with stopping power. There’s a 37 mm front fork at the front and a 7-step adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear to absorb those occasional bumps. There are 17-inch 100/80 and 130/70 radial tyres at the front and the rear respectively. The fuel-tank capacity is 12.5-litres and the bike has a kerb weight of 148 kgs.

Hero has introduced the Xtreme 200R just in time to make the most of the upcoming festive season. The company will begin dispatching the bike from its factories next week with deliveries set to commence soon after. The company will also be introducing two new scooters in the coming months followed by the launch of the XPulse 200 adventure motorcycle.
