The CBR1000RR Fireblade comes with ‘Wheelie Control System’ for better handling during acceleration

Honda has just launched the 2019 CBU line-up in India. The bikes that are on the list include the new CB1000R+, Gold Wing Tour DCT, CBR1000RR Fireblade and CBR1000RR Fireblade SP. The bikes can be booked from the exclusive ‘Wing World’ outlets.

The new Honda CB1000R+ is described by the company as a smooth blend of retro elements and ultra-modern styling. Termed as ‘Neo Sports Cafe’, the design language is further accentuated by the motorcycle’s aesthetics and front LED. The swingarm mounted rear fender gives a compact design and allows the rider to tap into a huge amount of usable engine performance with the control of a new-age super sports bike. The new bike is also lighter than the outgoing model, allowing for a better power-to-weight ratio.

The engine used is a 4-cylinder unit capable of generating power of up to 143.5 HP and torque of 104 Nm. To further compliment the riding experience, it has a slipper clutch for better control and a Throttle-By-Wire programmed with 3 modes. In addition, there is also a user setting [Power (P), Engine Brake (EB)] and a Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) which when made to work with the presets, give the rider optimum benefits depending on the riding conditions.

The motorcycle employs Showa separate function forks big piston USD suspension for the front and a Showa monoshock at the rear. The chassis is a box section mono backbone steel frame. Other features and accessories that come along with the bike include a quick shifter, heated grips, metallic meter visor and seat cowl, front fender panel, hugger panel and radiator grill.

The Honda CB1000R+ is available in Graphite Black colour and priced at Rs. 14.46 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Gold Wing, which is Honda’s flagship tourer bike, comes with a 1833cc flat six-cylinder engine with 4-valves per cylinder and can generate a power of 124.3 HP and 170 Nm of torque. The motorcycle also comes integrated with Throttle-By-Wire, which allows you to switch between 4 modes – TOUR, SPORT, ECON and RAIN. The DCT technology on the bike features 7-speeds with clutch feel, shift speed and a range of upshifts and downshifts for the RPM in different modes. It also comes with a creep forward and back function.

The Honda Gold Wing will now come with an electric windscreen adjustable for angle and height and a host of other tourer-bike features. Apple CarPlay integration and ABS are now standard. The Gold Wing also allows for easy use of controls on the central console. Its suspension modes allow for maximising manoeuvrability under different road conditions.

The Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) helps in rear wheel traction while the suspension damping and Combined Brake System (CBS) change depending on your selected mode. Other riding features include Hill Start Assist and Idling Stop. The Gold Wing is available in Candy Ardent Red colour, at a price of Rs. 27.79 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The newest versions of the CBR1000RR Fireblade, has a new technology called ‘Wheelie Control System’ which is designed to provide better security during acceleration. The time lag after electric control has been lessened for better handling at higher speeds.

The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade is powered by a 1000cc inline 4-cylinder engine that outputs 189 HP of power and 114 Nm of torque. The bike is paired to a 6-speed transmission. The parameters can be adjusted during the ride using the Riding Mode Select System (RMSS). The Fireblade uses a full-colour TFT liquid crystal dashboard, which is modelled after the RC213V-S street-legal version of Honda’s MotoGP machine.

The Fireblade SP gets an additional semi-active Ohlins Electronic Control (S-EC) suspension for the front and the rear (43 mm NIX30 inverted forks at the front and a TTX36 monoshock at the rear), a quick shifter and a downshift assist.

The new Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade is available in 2 colours – Grand Prix Red and Matt Ballistic Black Metallic. The litre-class Honda superbike is priced at Rs. 16.43 lakhs while the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP is priced at Rs. 19.28 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
