Hyundai i20 gets new Era base trim, prices revised
Hyundai has updated the variant lineup of the Hyundai i20 with the reintroduction of the Era trim as the new entry-level option. With this change, the starting price of the premium hatchback has been reduced to Rs. 5.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), making it more accessible than before.
The return of the Era variant effectively lowers the entry price by approximately Rs. 74,000 compared to the earlier base version. In addition to this, Hyundai has reduced the prices of the Magna Executive and Magna trims by Rs. 13,000 each. The Magna Executive is now priced at Rs. 6.73 lakhs, while the Magna trim costs Rs. 6.99 lakhs (both ex-showroom).
The newly introduced Era trim comes equipped with six airbags, a digital instrument cluster, front and rear skid plates, body-coloured ORVMs and door handles, a Type-C charging port and telescopic steering adjustment. Hyundai has not made feature additions to the existing Magna Executive and Magna variants as part of this update.
Buyers opting for the Magna Executive and Magna trims can also choose a dealer-level accessory package priced at Rs. 15,000. This package includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a rear-view camera. The system is backed by a three-year warranty.
Mechanically, the i20 remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 83 HP and 115 Nm of torque in manual form, while the CVT version delivers 88 HP. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic.
In the Indian market, the i20 competes with rivals such as the Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Tata Altroz.
