Renault Duster Exports

Renault has commenced exports of the latest-generation Duster from India, marking another step in the company’s efforts to strengthen its role as a manufacturing and export hub. The first batch, comprising 750 units of the midsize SUV, has been dispatched from Chennai and is destined for the South African market.

The export programme adds the Duster to Renault India’s existing export portfolio, which already includes models such as the Kwid, Triber and Kiger. While South Africa is the first overseas destination for the new SUV, Renault has indicated that additional international markets will be added in the coming months.

The exported version is based on the India-spec Duster, which features styling elements distinct from the global model. These include a unique grille design with prominent Duster branding, revised lighting elements and market-specific alloy wheels. Renault has also included units of the limited-run Iconic Launch Edition in the initial shipment.

The start of exports underscores the growing importance of India within Renault’s global manufacturing network. The company has reiterated its plans to expand export operations from the country and increase its contribution to international markets over the coming years.

Speaking on the occasion, Renault Group India CEO Stephane Deblaise said India is expected to play a larger strategic role in the company’s future growth plans. Renault is also targeting annual export revenues of GBP 2 billion (approximately Rs. 25,000 crore) from India by 2030.

Renault’s export journey from India began in 2012 with the previous-generation Duster. Over the years, the company has expanded its export lineup with the Kwid, Triber and Kiger. Today, Renault ships vehicles manufactured in India to around 14 countries across regions including SAARC nations, Asia Pacific markets, the Indian Ocean region, South Africa and East Africa.

With exports of the new Duster now underway, Renault is expected to further leverage its Indian production base as it looks to expand its presence in global markets.
