Aprilia SXR 160 10
It will be a welcome addition to the manufacturer’s scooter range

Rejoice! Aprilia is all set to launch the SXR 160 maxi-scooter in either the first or second week of December 2020.

Some dealers have also reportedly begun accepting bookings for the scooter for a token amount of Rs. 5000/-.

Shown at the Auto Expo held earlier this year, the new scooter from the Piaggio-owned manufacturer was earlier expected to get launched this month.

But Aprilia did say that it will get launched in the third quarter of this year, so we can cut them some slack.

Designed in Italy, it is quite an appealing scooter to look at with the large front area, windscreen, stepped-up seat and stretched floorboard.

It will come with features like LED headlights with DRLs, reminiscing those on the Aprilia RS 660, LED taillight, a digital cluster, USB port and good storage space. Smartphone connectivity is likely to be offered.

Four colour options – blue, black, red and white – will be offered with the scooter, not with such simple names of course.

Powering the SXR 160 would most likely be the engine from the SR 160 that is good for 11 PS and 11.2 Nm. While the performance will likely be similar, Aprilia will tune the ride to be more softer on its maxi-scooter, which would be welcome.

Tyres would be 120-section front and rear and will wrap around 12-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels. Further, there will be disc brakes at both ends along with ABS safety net.

When the Aprilia SXR 160 launch happens, it is expected to cost around Rs. 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). There were reports that the Italian manufacturer will introduce an SXR 125 as well, but, it might follow later.
