Aprilia RS 125 and Tuono 125 will be launched in India in 2019, 150cc versions to arrive this year.

Aprilia Tuono 150 6
The Tuono 150 will create a new segment of semi-faired performance motorcycles in the Indian market

Italian automaker Aprilia stunned us all at the 2018 Auto Expo by showcasing the RS 150 (full-faired) and the Tuono 150 (semi-faired) bikes, the scaled-down versions of the RSV4 and the Tuono V4 respectively. Good news is that these bikes will be launched in India in the second half of this year while the 125cc versions of these bikes (not the same spec as the European model) will be introduced sometime in 2019. While the RS 125 and Tuono 125 will come powered by a 125cc engine, exact specifications of the engine aren’t known at the moment. Like the Tuono 150, the RS 125 and the Tuono 125 will create a whole new segment of 125cc performance bikes in India.

The bad news is Yamaha has to start worrying now. Why? Both the RS 150 and Tuono 150 will come powered by a 150cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine that produces 18 HP of power and 14 Nm of torque. Premium hardware includes inverted forks up front, large 300 mm disc for the front wheel, dual-channel ABS and even a Quick Shifter (offered as an accessory though!). None of these are offered on in its rivals.

The full-faired Aprilia RS 150 will rival the Yamaha R15 V3 and going by the features present in the bike showcased, the R15 V3 will indeed have a run (a terrible one) for its money. That said, Aprilia should also get the pricing right and if that happens we might just be looking at a new era in 150cc supersport riding.
