ASEAN NCAP Publishes Full Test Result Of India-Made Nissan Magnite

ASEAN NCAP has revealed the crash test result of the Nissan Magnite in full and the made-in-India compact SUV has scored a total of 70.61 points to receive a 4-star safety rating.

It was only the second Nissan SUV tested by the body in the year 2020 and the model that was tested was for Indonesia (INN Premium trim).

Equipped with 2 airbags as standard, the 1029 kg (when tested) Magnite equipped with a 1.0-litre petrol engine, also had ESC and seatbelt reminder system for front passengers, along with ISOFIX points and top tether.

In the assessment, the tested car obtained 39.02 points for the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, 16.31 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP) and 15.28 points for the Safety Assist Technologies (SATs).

According to the testing agency, data from the dummies showed that during the frontal offset test, there was an injury risk to the driver’s chest, while the front passenger’s chest and lower legs had received adequate protection.

Data obtained during the side impact test showed the driver’s chest had adequate protection as well. Furthermore, the compact SUV’s structure remained stable in the frontal offset test.

Overall, the AOP score was 39.02 points, COP score was 16.31 points and for SATs it was 15.28 points. Thus, the accumulated Nissan Magnite ASEAN NCAP test score was 70.61 points, which resulted in the car receiving a 4-star safety rating.

Do note that the model that was tested was made in India, but not sold here. The Nissan Magnite sold here will also be crash tested, but by Global NCAP under the “Safer Cars For India” programme.

Currently, Nissan Magnite costs between Rs. 5.49 lakhs and Rs. 9.59 lakhs in India and can be had either with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor or a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit, while transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT.
