The Chetak electric scooter is Bajaj’s first EV offering in India

After a prolonged wait, the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been launched in 2 models in India starting at a price of Rs. 1 lakh for the Urbane and Rs. 1.15 lakh for the Premium variant, all prices, ex-showroom. While the former offers drum brakes at the front, the latter does duty with disc ones.

Urbane is finished in 2 solid and glossy colors (White and Citrus Rush) while Premium gets 4 color options ( Hazelnut, Black, Red and Blue) finished in metallic and glossy options. Wheel covers and solid black matte and the bezels are Siberian Silver for the cheaper variant. Having said that, spending Rs. 15,000/- more on the Premium gets metallic Grey/Black wheel color and satin silver bezels.

The Bajaj Chetak Electric scooter gets an LED headlight, a strip of LED daytime running lights, a round, retro-styled, and a full-digital instrument panel. The electric scooter stands tall on 12-inch cast alloy wheels at both ends. It gets 2 riding modes – Eco and Sport.

The Chetak also features keyless ignition, as well as information showing battery level and remaining range. Battery life is a long one too – 70,000 kms. Bajaj has claimed a range of more than 95 kms on the Chetak with a 3 KwH (48V, 60.3 AH) battery that produces around 6BHP of power and 16 Nm of torque. The electric scooter takes 5 hours to charge to the brink and an hour to hit 25%.

Bajaj is also offering 3 free services and a warranty of 3 years or 50,000 kms on the electric Chetak. For trouble-free ownership, the service interval is capped at 12,000 kms or once a year for the commuter. Bajaj Auto India will provide a complimentary charger with the vehicle free of cost.
