Nearly 2 years after unveiling the Imperiale 400 at the 2017 EICMA, Benelli has decided to launch the motorcycle in India around the first half of October 2019. The retro-style motorcycle will mark the company’s third launch this year after the Benelli TRK 502 and the TRK 502X. Benelli introduced the Leoncino 500 later on.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 will get a twin-pod instrument cluster, split seats, pea-shooter type exhaust and a bountiful amount of chrome. It will also debut as the first retro-styled motorcycle in the brand’s Indian portfolio.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 will draw power from a 373.5cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine churning 20.4 PS at 5500 RPM and 28 Nm at 3500 RPM. Since Benelli has been developing a BS6-compliant engine, the Imperiale 400 might just be offered with the same. In order to keep the price competitive, Benelli might localise a few components like tyres, wheels, brakes, etc.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 features a 41 mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. Braking is taken care of by a 300 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc.

The awaited motorcycle will rival the Royal Enfield Classic 500, which is priced at Rs. 1.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).
