Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Benelli Leoncino launch is set to happen in November this year.

India will get the on-road variant of the Benelli Leoncino

Benelli is all gearing up to launch the Leoncino scrambler in India by November this year. The middle-weight scrambler was first showcased at the 2015 EICMA Motor Show and later made its way to the 2016 Auto Expo in India.

The Leoncino was not considered for India initially but Benelli has tweaked its strategy for India and has now confirmed that the Leoncino will make it to Indian showrooms by November. The Leoncino will come to India as the on-road version and will be more of a lifestyle bike than an outright adventure motorcycle.

The Benelli Leoncino will come powered by a 500cc twin-cylinder engine that also powers the TRK 502. This motor produces a 47 HP of power and 45 Nm of torque and comes matched to a 6-speed gearbox.

The Leoncino will get 50 mm upside down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are via twin 320 mm discs at the front and a 260 mm single disc at the rear. ABS will be offered as standard.

Styling wise, the Leoncino gets typical scrambler styling elements like the round headlamps and a short tail section. Overall the motorcycle gets a retro-themed design. Expect DSK Benelli to price the Leoncino at Rs. 6 lakhs (ex-showroom). There isn’t any direct rival to the Benelli Leoncino and when launched it will, of course, give the Ducati Scrambler a run for its money.
