The BMW G310 GS will be revealed at the EICMA 2016 in Milan. The G310 based adventure tourer is now seen carrying a closed luggage box and off-road tyres.
The BMW G310R compact performance motorcycle is a very important strategic platform for BMW and TVS as the motorcycle will bring in the masses as well as the oomph factor for both the brands. Thus to widen its appeal, the company has come up with a fully faired version as well as an adventure tourer variant of the street naked motorcycle. The BMW G310 GS enduro motorcycle was spied earlier in Italy and flaunting its near production-ready silhouette. Now the bike has made another appearance and this time the Beemer is also kitted-up with some optional accessories.
The latest round of pics from Italy again shows the much awaited G310 GS in tourer guise. New images show the bike featuring on/off-road tyres, big front plexi-glass and a big carry-box bolted on the luggage mounts. The snapshots showcase four bikes in different shades and all four of them are kitted with accessories. Sporty half-fairing and embossed ‘GS’ lettering on the fuel tank make an appearance again, as seen in the last set of spyshots.
The bikes feature a long-travel suspension with forks painted in a golden shade, a new engine cowl and clear view of the design of the headlight, handlebar and instrument cluster, which is identical to that of the G310R. The BMW G310 GS will continue using the G310R’s 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine paired to a six-speed transmission. The fuel-injected engine produces 34 BHP and 28 Nm of torque on the naked street-bike, but this could be re-tuned for the adventure tourer.
Just like its naked sibling, the BMW G310 GS will be engineered by BMW but manufactured by TVS Motor in India at its Hosur facility near Bangalore. The bike will share assembly lines with the BMW G310R itself and the TVS Akula 310 which is the fully-faired TVS branded version of the G310R. The endurance bike will squarely target the Royal Enfield Himalayan, but is expected to be priced at a relatively higher number to maintain exclusivity of the BMW brand.
