BMW S 1000 R Launched In India, Features Sharper Styling & Better Performance Over Its Predecessor

BMW has launched the new S 1000 R. The brand has updated the streetfighter over its predecessor, focusing on sharper styling, better performance, and modern technology. The motorcycle is designed for riders seeking performance and everyday usability.

Design

The design highlights include a muscular fuel tank, sharp extensions, and an exposed subframe for aggressive styling. The available colours are Blackstorm Metallic, Bluefire/Mugiallo Yellow, and Lightwhite Uni/M Motorsport.

Engine

A 999cc, liquid-cooled, four-cylinder engine powers the motorcycle, producing 170 HP at 11,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 9,250 rpm. The acceleration from 0 to 100km/hr happens in a blistering 3.2 seconds, with top speed limited to 250 km/hr. The shorter final-drive ratio improves responsiveness and acceleration.

Features

The bike features Headlight Pro with DRLs, riding modes, ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, and a 6.5-inch TFT display. It also includes connectivity, navigation, and BMW’s intelligent E-Call emergency feature. The USB Type-C charging port under the seat enhances convenience.

Riders can choose from optional Dynamic, Comfort, and M Sport packages, which feature additional options such as cruise control, heated grips, forged wheels, and a lightweight battery. BMW prices the S 1000 R at Rs. 19.9 lakh (ex-showroom) before the optional extras.
