BMW has introduced a petrol variant of its luxury compact SUV, the BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine. The German carmaker claims that it’s a perfect balance between sportiness and efficiency. The BMW X1 sDrive20i gets BS VI compliant petrol engine.

The X1 sDrive20i has been introduced with ‘xLine’ design scheme. The xLine is made to enhance the vehicle’s off-road characteristics. It gets a multi slat BMW signature kidney grille in aluminium matte finish and the frame gets chrome on it. The X1 runs on lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels in Y-spoke design. It also gets a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting in the orange or white colour.

The X1 sDrive20i is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine which produces 192 BHP of power and a peak torque of 280 Nm, mated to a 7-speed Steptronic double clutch transmission. The X1 takes 7.6 seconds for the 0-100 km/hr sprint with a top speed of 224 km/hr.

This car gets BMW ConnectedDrive infotainment, navigation with iDrive touch controller and 16.5 cm screen compatible with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and USB connectivity as standard. It gets a rear parking camera with Park Distance Control (PDC).

On the safety front, the X1 gets 6 airbags, ABS with brake assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), side-impact Protection, electronic vehicle immobiliser and many more features.

BMW has launched the X1 sDrive20i in India with a price of Rs. 37.5 lakhs. The X1 has a strong rivalry with the Audi Q3, Mercedes GLA and the recently launched Volvo XC40. Though Volvo has not yet introduced the XC40 in petrol variant.
