BYD Sea Lion to be their third product in India?
BYD is one of the largest EV makers across the globe, the electric vehicle company has registered a new trademark with the name Sea Lion.
We believe this is their upcoming electric vehicle for India and it will be their third product launch after BYD E6 and Atto 3.
They haven’t revealed any such car with the name of Sea Lion in the international market yet. It is expected to be an all-new product that might be revealed globally soon or an existing product that will be renamed as Sea Lion in India.
There are some speculations about a new electric crossover to be christened as BYD Sea Lion. The spy shots of one such prototype reveals a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The instrument cluster is expected to be a 10.25-inch unit.
The specifications are not out yet officially but you could expect a range of electric powertrain options ranging from a 204 HP RWD variant to a 530 HP AWD variant with dual electric motors. The rumoured battery capacity is 82.5 kWh which might offer a range of up to 700 km on full charge.
The BYD Sea Lion is supposed to compete with the Tesla Model Y in the international market. If launched in India, expect a price upwards of Rs. 40 lakhs (ex-showroom).
