Ducati DesertX is a hardcore off-roader sharing its engine with the Multistrada V2

Ducati has revealed the DesertX at the Ducati World Premiere 2022. The motorcycle has a retro appeal with an intense off-road attitude and gives an impression of a Dakar motorcycle from some angles. The styling is neat and it sure does look very premium.

The Italian bike maker says it is designed to tackle even the most demanding off-road conditions. It comes with a long travel suspension – front wheel travel is 230 mm and rear wheel travel is 220 mm. The front suspension is a KYB fully adjustable 46 mm upside-down fork while the rear suspension is a KYB fully adjustable monoshock.

It is equipped with 21-inch and 18-inch cross-spoked front and rear wheels. The bike has a generous ground clearance of 250 mm. Braking duties come from 320 mm dual semi-floating discs at the front and 265 mm rear disc. Both the front and rear discs come with Bosch cornering ABS.

Comes with 6 riding modes and 4 power modes

The motorcycle has a dry weight of 202 kg with a fuel tank capacity of 21-litres. The seat heigh is 875 mm.

Powering the bike is a Ducati Testastretta 11°, L-Twin cylinder, liquid cooled 937cc engine that produces 110 HP at 9250 RPM and 92 Nm at 6500 RPM. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.

Ducati is offering 6 riding modes and 4 power modes with the bike. Riding modes include Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally. The 4 power modes are Full, High, Medium and Low.

There is a 5-inch full-colour TFT display which comes with Ducati Multimedia System offering functions like music, incoming/outgoing calls and Turn-by-Turn navigation.

The Ducati Safety Pack includes Cornering ABS and Ducati Traction Control. It is equipped with a lot of tech like Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Engine Brake Control (EBC), Ducati Quick Shift up/down (DQS), Cruise control, full LED lighting system, DRL, Ducati brake light (DBL), USB power socket, 12V socket, self canceling turn indicators, Steering damper and more.

Some of the optional equipment – Ducati Multimedia System (DMS), Antitheft system, Turn by turn navigation via app, fog lights, heated grips and auxiliary fuel tank (8-litre).
