2013 Force Gurkha Hard Top Review

Force Motors have officially confirmed that sales of the Gurkha 4×4 SUV will commence from September onwards this year. The company had originally launched the Gurkha back in February last year, but was reportedly working on improving the product after receiving feedback from auto experts and select group of users, that helped to improve the SUV further. The company will make the Gurkha available for test drive and bookings will commence from September onwards.

Force engineers have worked upon improving the cabin NVH levels and the air conditioning of the SUV as well. The overall fit and finish of the quality of materials have also been improved. The Gurkha 4×4 comes with a host of off-roading features which includes a factory fitted snorkel kit, differential locks at the front and rear axles and best in class of 210 mm ground clearance that can effortlessly negotiate extreme terrains.

The Force Gurkha is powered by a Mercedes sourced 2.6-litre OM 616 turbocharged intercooled diesel engine that produces 82 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed synchromesh transmission and four-wheel drive with Hi-Lo option. The SUV gets a reinforced tubular chassis that enables the Gurkha to absorb extreme torsional stress in off-roading situations. Also unique to the Gurkha is the ‘crawler function’ that senses the terrain automatically courtesy of the special ECU and accordingly supplies fuel to the engine.

The Force Gurkha is available in hard top and soft top variants with three colours on offer. Force Motors is also offering a warranty of 3 years or 3,00,000 kms on the Gurkha and will be available through the company’s personal vehicle dealerships. The SUV primarily competes with the Mahindra Thar in the segment.
