GWM to introduce mass market SUVs in India priced from Rs. 10 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs.

Great Wall Motors had a wide range of SUVs and EVs to showcase at the Auto Expo 2020. The Chinese carmaker is planning to enter the mass market segment of SUVs in India.

They plant to introduce SUV priced from Rs. 10 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs. The first SUV will be a C-segment SUV rivalling MG Hector, Tata Harrier and the likes. It will be introduced in the first quarter of 2021.

The second product will be an electric SUV that will compete with the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona. It is scheduled to be launched by 2022-2023.

GWM has acquired General Motors’ Talegaon factory for production in India. They have the B SUV platform for emerging markets from which they can come up with a sub 4-metre SUV as well as a 4.2-metre SUV.

The Haval brand will be only for the SUV segment. The immediate focus will be on the Indian market while they will be using the facility as a base to export to other countries.
