Vietnam-based mobility company Green SM has officially commenced its ride-hailing operations in India, marking its entry into one of the world’s largest transportation markets. The service has been launched in the Delhi-NCR region and will exclusively use electric vehicles as part of its fleet.
The company is backed by Vingroup, the Vietnamese conglomerate that also owns electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast. Green SM has indicated that its India rollout will begin with Delhi-NCR before expanding to additional cities in subsequent phases.
At the centre of the new service is the VinFast Limo Green, an electric multi-purpose vehicle designed primarily for commercial passenger transport. The seven-seater MPV is powered by a front-wheel-drive electric motor producing 201 BHP and 280 Nm of torque. Energy is supplied by a 60.13 kWh battery pack, with the vehicle claiming an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 517 kilometres on a single charge.
As competition intensifies in India’s ride-hailing segment, Green SM will enter a market currently dominated by established operators such as Uber and Ola. The company’s all-electric approach also aligns with the broader industry trend toward fleet electrification, driven by rising fuel costs and growing focus on sustainable urban mobility.
According to Green SM, its vehicles will feature a range of safety technologies, including cabin and exterior cameras, AI-based monitoring systems and emergency assistance functions. Customers can book rides through the company’s mobile application, while direct street hailing will also be available in designated service areas.
The launch marks Green SM’s fifth overseas market after Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and the Philippines. To attract early users, the company is offering introductory ride discounts through its app for a limited period following the start of operations.
