2021 Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special
It is not known if the bike will be offered with wire-spoked wheels in India

Harley-Davidson is gearing up to launch the Pan America 1250 and 1250 Special in India in the near future.

The first adventure motorcycle from the American cruiser bike manufacturer is a proper piece of kit that is powered by a 1252cc V-twin engine good for 150 HP and 127 Nm of torque.

Unlike traditional motors from the brand, the engine, called Revolution Max, has liquid cooling, dual overhead camshafts, 4-valve heads and variable valve timing. A 6-speed gearbox comes paired with the engine and it has a slipper clutch.

It is not just the engine that is new. The Pan America 1250 comes with adventure-spec chassis, as well as hardware, starting with the rims which are 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear.

The shocks are long-travel jobbies sourced from Showa and they are fully-adjustable. Braking hardware is top-notch too, for they are sourced from Brembo.

Pan America also comes with a comprehensive electronics package. It has 5 rider modes, cornering ABS, cornering traction control, engine braking function, cruise control and hill hold control. A 6.8-inch touchscreen display fitted to the bike also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

There will be optional extras like Adaptive Ride Height (ARH) and accessories available for the motorcycle that weighs 242 kg, while the top-spec Special variant comes in at 253.5 kg.

When the Harley-Davidson Pan America launch takes place in India, the motorcycle will go head-to-head with other big adventure motorcycles like the BMW R 1250 GS and expect it not to come cheap by any means.
