Honda does surprise us time and again and they have done exactly the same today by launching the CB300R in India, priced at Rs. 2.41 lakhs (ex-showroom). Known as a ‘Neo Sports Cafe’ motorcycle, the Honda CB300R can be booked for just Rs. 5000/- across 22 Wing World outlets in the country. The street-fighter bike is brought to India via the CKD route.

The Honda CB300R has retro elements and is powered by a 286cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, DOHC engine that belts out 31.4 HP of power at 8500 RPM and 27.5 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM, the output of the Indian model haven’t been revealed yet. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The claimed fuel economy is 30.2 km/l with the fuel tank capacity being just 10-litres. The motorcycle employs a steel diamond frame, it has a seat height of 799 mm while the ground clearance is 151 mm.

The Honda CB300R employs 41 mm USD forks up front and a 7-step preload adjustable monoshock at the rear with 107 mm of travel. It rides on 110/70/17 front tyre and 150/60/17 rear tyre (same size as its rivals). The wave disc size is 296 mm at the front (with 4-piston calliper) and 220 mm at the rear (with single piston calliper) with dual-channel ABS that uses a G-sensor for optimum front to rear brake force distribution using an IMU. Tipping the scales at 143 kgs, the CB300R is a light-weight motorcycle. This Honda gets full LED lighting (even for the indicators) and gets an all digital instrument cluster. It is offered in two colours – gray and red.

While there is no direct competition as such for the Honda CB300R, it will rival the KTM Duke 390 which is priced around the same ballpark. The CB300R will also compete with the Kawasaki Z250 that also comes via the CKD route and the manufactured in India BMW G 310 R, although it is priced cheaper the German motorcycle in spite of having similar engine output.
