Honda City Hybrid India
The sedan segment in India might be small, but it is slowing growing

The India launch of the Honda City Hybrid will happen in the next quarter

Honda Cars India is planning to launch the City Hybrid in the first quarter of financial year 2022-23 (between April and June this year).

The introduction of the hybrid version of the best-selling C-segment sedan in the country would enable Honda to gain an advantage over its rivals in the fuel economy game.

The launch of the City Hybrid was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We have now learned that the project has passed the prototype stage and the Honda management is very eager to launch the car in the Indian market.

This model is expected to come with a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine that makes 98 HP and 127 Nm and 2 electric motors. One motor is the integrated starter generator, while the other drives the front wheels.

Teamed to a single-speed transmission, this electric motor makes 109 HP and 253 Nm and takes juice from a Lithium-ion battery pack housed in the car’s back section.

The fifth-generation, Honda City costs between Rs. 11.23 lakhs and Rs. 15.18 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Without a doubt, the hybrid version of the C-segment sedan will command a premium over the ICE-only version.
