Honda had stated late last year that they will consider the launch of the HR-V for the Indian market if they see good demand for the product here. Now, the company’s national CEO Yoichiro Ueno has said that a lot of customers have been enquiring about the HR-V’s India launch and they have been requesting Honda to launch it here.

The Honda HR-V is a premium compact SUV and it is based on the same platform that underpins the Jazz, WR-V and City. Thanks to this, localisation of the HR-V won’t be a difficult task for the automaker. The Indian version of the HR-V could get the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines from the City.

The premium compact SUV segment has good demand and that has been proven time and again by the Hyundai Creta which sells in high numbers despite being a bit costly. If Honda launches the HR-V here, it will be slotted above the BR-V and will compete head-on with the Creta. Now that customers have been asking for the car, Honda will definitely put its launch under serious consideration.
