Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 Launch
This bike will become the new entry-level model for the brand

Having recently begun its innings in India, Husqvarna is already looking to launch the Svartpilen 200 in the country.

Currently, the bikemaker only has 2 models – Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 – on sale in India and they manage only a small amount of sales each month.

Knowing that expansion of its model range is the only way to gain more sales, the Swedish-origin Austrian firm plans to launch a smaller and more affordable model in the form of the Svartpilen 200 in India next year.

Like the 250 twins, the smaller Husqy shares many components with its KTM counterpart and has been spotted on test already. Powering the bike would be a 200cc motor putting out 26 HP and 19.5 Nm.

Launch of the model is likely to happen by the first quarter (Q1) of financial year (FY) 2021-22 and should undercut the Duke 200 in terms of price.

After introducing its most affordable model, Husqvarna is then expected to launch the Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 in India during the second half of 2021.

Although the bikemaker says that the 401 twins will not be introduced in the Indian market, considering that they are produced here and since the firm will want to have products for customers of its 250cc models to upgrade, it does not make sense to avoid them.

Making use of the Duke 390’s 373cc liquid-cooled motor that puts out 44 PS and 37 Nm, the 401 twins will be lively bikes to ride, while also looking like nothing else on the road, well, other than their siblings.

When they do get introduced, expect a sub-Rs. 2.50 lakhs (ex-showroom) price tag which will make them excellent value for money propositions in the market.
