Hyosung GV250 Aquila

You read it first on MotorBeam. DSK-Hyosung will launch the GV250 in the Indian market in the first week of October. The launch of the GV250 has been delayed time and again as Garware Motors sold its stake in the joint venture to DSK Motowheels. The Hyosung GV250 is not new to us as the Korean automaker sold the old model in the earlier part of the last decade. That time, the GV250 was sold by Hyosung’s then partner, Kinetic. Also known as the Aquila, the Hyosung GV250 should see good demand in India as currently there are very few cruiser alternatives at that price.

Powering the Hyosung GV250 is a 249cc, air and oil-cooled V-twin engine. This 8-valve motor uses fuel injection and pumps out 25 BHP of power at 10,000 RPM and 22 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. This engine is the same unit which powers the GT250R and the company is likely to tune it up a bit to adapt it for the cruiser. The Hyosung GV250 uses 110/90/16 and 150/80/15 tyres at the front and rear respectively. The front uses a disc while the rear uses a drum setup. The 170 kgs bike has a 16-litre fuel tank.

The Hyosung GV250 Aquila does look attractive and takes styling cues from its elder sibling, the GV650 Aquila Pro. DSK is expected to price the Hyosung GV250 at a price of around Rs. 1.8 lakhs (ex-showroom), which puts it bang in Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 territory. The motorcycle will be locally assembled in India at the automaker’s Wai plant, near Pune. The Hyosung Aquila is sure to appeal to those looking for a premium cruiser motorcycle without breaking the bank.
