The Elantra facelift was launched with a petrol engine option only

Hyundai is planning to introduce diesel engine option with the Elantra facelift soon. The Korean carmaker had introduced the facelift in October 2019 with only petrol engine options.

The Hyundai Elantra will now share its diesel powertrain with the new Creta. It is a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine which will be available with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options.

Expected to be launched in April, the Hyundai Elantra diesel is likely to be offered with the same power output of 115 HP and 250 Nm of torque from the 1.5-litre oil burner.

The pre-facelift version came with a 1.6-litre diesel engine that produces 128 HP and 260 Nm. With the performance figures, further going down with the new model, it’ll be interesting to see the pricing and fuel efficiency of the D-segment sedan.

It will be available in three variants, same as the petrol version. The equipment list is likely to be exactly the same as the petrol trim levels.
