Hyundai Exter spotted undisguised for the first time

Hyundai Exter is the next big launch from the South Korean carmaker, the new compact SUV has been spotted completely undisguised recently.

The test mule has been spotted in Seoul, South Korea and it reveals all the design details of the exterior.

The front profile gets a clamshell type bonnet, H-shaped LED DRLs on top while the projector headlamps are integrated onto the bumper. The grille is wide and finished in black. There’s black plastic cladding across the body of the car to give it a rugged look.

The squared wheel arches further accentuate the ruggedness in the details along with the high roof rails. The pillars of the car are blacked out to give it a floating roof aesthetic.

The ground clearance looks decent in these pictures for a compact SUV this size. The alloy wheels get a diamond cut finish with black and shiny chrome elements. However, it is yet to be seen the final design of the alloys in the production car.

The rear profile also gets H-shaped element on the tail lights. The lights look very similar to the ones seen on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. There is a dark strip connecting the tail lamps which looks inspired by the Alcazar. The overall design looks simple yet modern. However it is a mix of multiple cars in their lineup.

We expect the interior to share a lot of elements with the existing cars in the Hyundai range. However, the carmaker will offer some segment first features with the Exter.

It is based on the Grand i10 Nios platform and will be positioned under the Hyundai Venue. Engine options will include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.

The Hyundai Exter will compete with Tata Punch. Production is expected to commence July onwards while the deliveries will commence ahead of the festive season.
