Hyundai will launch the Palisade hybrid SUV in India in 2028
Hyundai Motor India is gearing up to introduce its premium SUV, the Palisade, to the Indian market in 2028. Positioned at the top of Hyundai’s domestic portfolio, the Palisade will bring a new level of sophistication and performance, especially with its advanced hybrid powertrain.
The Palisade will be powered by Hyundai’s next-generation 2.5-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine, which generates a combined output of 334 HP and 460 Nm of torque. The brand claims this setup delivers a 45 percent improvement in fuel efficiency compared to a regular 2.5-litre petrol engine, achieving a fuel economy of 14.1 km/l and a driving range of 1015 km.
A 6-speed automatic transmission paired with a front-wheel drive layout will come as standard, while an all-wheel drive option will also be available. The SUV will offer three driving modes – Eco, Sport and My Drive – along with terrain modes tailored for Mud, Snow and Sand.
In terms of ride and handling, Hyundai has equipped the Palisade with an innovative set of features under the ‘e-Comfort Drive’ and ‘e-Dynamic Drive’ systems. These include enhancements such as torque vectoring, electronic grip assist and stability-improving torque distribution during cornering.
Stylistically, the Palisade follows a bold design language with squared-off proportions, vertical LED lighting elements, a broad grille and 21-inch alloy wheels. Silver accents on the body cladding and roof rails add a touch of premium flair.
Inside, the SUV offers a three-row seating configuration with the option of captain seats in the second row, complete with recline and footrests for added comfort. A dual 12.3-inch screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation dominates the dashboard, complemented by a suite of luxury features including a 14-speaker Bose audio system, panoramic sunroof and wireless smartphone connectivity.
Additional convenience and safety tech include a fingerprint-based engine start system, 360-degree camera, digital key, integrated dashcam, ADAS and even a rear camera washer. Hyundai’s focus on both passenger comfort and cutting-edge technology signals its intent to position the Palisade as a compelling flagship offering.
The expected price range for the Palisade in India is between Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom), thanks in part to Hyundai’s plans for local assembly and potential exports.
