Hyundai Santro will come with new variants within 6 months of its launch.
To compete against the Maruti Alto and other entry-level cars, Hyundai has decided to reshuffle the model variants and features of the Santro. While other variants come with ABS, EBD and a driver side airbag, features like ABS, EBD, Dual Front Airbags are limited to the Sportz AMT and Asta Manual trim.
The base model of the Santro, D-Lite model did not come with air conditioning but now has been renamed as Era Executive and offers air conditioning. It gets AC with heater, body-coloured front bumper, dual tone body-coloured rear bumper, and front power window.
Hyundai has discontinued the Era model and second in the line of variants is now the Magna Petrol Manual, Magna CNG. This variant gets a 2-din music system with speakers at the front doors and Bluetooth integration with steering mounted controls.
Sportz AMT variant comes with a passenger-side airbag, rear-view camera and seat belt pretensioner. But the Sportz variant with a manual transmission does not get passenger-side airbag. Even the Reverse Parking Sensor is still not made standard and only limited to the top of the line Asta variant.
The Santro gets two engine options – a 1.1-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 68.05 BHP and 99 Nm of torque. The 1.1-litre 4-cylinder petrol+CNG engine that produces 58 BHP and 84 Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol powered Magna and Sportz variants come with the option of AMT. Expected price changes for the Era Executive, Magna Petrol Manual and Magna CNG and Santro Sportz AMT models is Rs. 15,000/-.
