The Hyundai Venue BS6 has been launched in India, gets pricier by Rs. 19,000-55,000/-.
Hyundai had launched the Venue compact SUV amid much fanfare in 2019 and the vehicle lived up to expectations by fetching very good sales in India. Now, the Korean automaker has launched the BS6 version of the Venue and it gets some changes, with the most major one being the new diesel engine.
The Hyundai Venue is offered with 3 engines. The 1.2-litre Kappa and 1.0 Turbo petrol engines are the same as before and they’re now BS6 compliant. The older 1.4-litre CRDI diesel engine has been discontinued and the Venue now gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Now this engine is the same one that comes on the Kia Seltos (115 HP, 250 Nm) but on the Venue it is offered in a lower state of tune.
The Kappa petrol engine is offered with a 5-speed MT, the turbo petrol engine gets either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT while the 1.5 diesel mill gets a 6-speed MT. While the Seltos gets a variable geometry turbo, the Venue gets a fixed geometry turbo. The diesel engine is available in the E, S, SX, SX Dual, SX(O), SX(O) Dual variants.
Apart from the mechanical changes, the 2020 Hyundai Venue also comes with more equipment. The E and S variants get an Alternator Management System while the SX trim gets TPMS. The SX+ and SX(O) trims get an additional 12V charging socket. Ranging from variant to variant, prices of the Venue have increased by Rs. 19,000/- to Rs. 55,000/- with this update.
The Hyundai Venue rivals the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300. The upcoming Kia Sonet will also be positioned in this segment.
