Nissan has remained inactive in the Indian market for quite some time now. Apart from facelifts, there hasn’t been an all-new product in the past couple of years now. However, that is soon going to change. There are media reports which suggest that the Japanese carmaker is readying an all-new India-specific Micra.

The new-generation Micra was launched in Europe a few months ago and India will be getting a heavily revised version of the same car. While the exterior design will be similar, there will be chassis level differences when compared to the European version. The India-spec Micra will get lesser sophisticated mechanicals and electronics, of course, to keep the costs in check. Having said that, the vehicle is likely to carry forward the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines from the current model, probably with improvements in refinement.

The hatchback is likely to get premium features such as LED DRLs, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system and rear parking camera with sensors. When launched, the Micra will rival the likes of Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo.
