Just recently we posted pictures of the 2012 Suzuki Swift Sport in its right-hand drive, 5-door avatar. People who have driven the Swift Sport, acknowledge it as a very fun to drive and value for money machine. However, its almost certain that Maruti Suzuki will not be bringing in the Swift Sport in India anytime soon. There are two quite obvious reasons for it. The first being that the Swift Sport does not come cheap and at the current exchange rate of the Australian dollar, the vehicle costs close to 12.6 lakhs. The other reason is the lack of demand for petrol powered hatchbacks. However, there seems to be a solution.

Just days before the Auto Expo, news of the Suzuki Swift Sport making its way to the Maruti Suzuki stall was doing the rounds, but when the Expo went live, none was to be found. What was to be found was a desi Swift Sport, which was a Swift ZXi with some cosmetic changes. The changes to the front include chrome inserts on the bumper and the addition of a body kit. The sides now feature silver decals along with bigger 17-inch wheels mounted on low profile tyres. At the rear, there is a spoiler, chrome insert on the low half of the bumper and a different muffler. This does not make the Swift a Sport version but still could be a good idea for a limited edition run for a premium of Rs. 30,000/-, what do you think?
