Jaguar will have an interesting pavilion at the 2016 Auto Expo as it will be officially launching the much awaited XE sedan in the country at the biennial event. The automaker has also confirmed that it will be showcasing the F-Pace SUV at the expo that will make it to the domestic market as well at a later date. The British carmaker’s answer to the Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3-Series, Volvo S60 and Audi A4, the XE sedan is the most affordable Jaguar you will be able to get your hands on and also one of the most stylish cars out there.

Based on a lightweight chassis built out of 75 percent aluminium, the Jaguar XE looks sharp, lean and definitely will attract a host of young buyers. It is also loaded with tech onboard including the 10.2-inch dual-view InControl Touch Pro infotainment system among other goodies. In terms of power, the XE uses the new 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines producing 200 PS and 180 PS respectively. Both units come paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. There is also a sportier XE ‘S’ version available that could be introduced later powered by a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine producing 340 PS.

Talking about the F-Pace, Jaguar’s first crossover was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year and is likely to go on sale in India by the end of 2016. A cross between the XE and the F-Type, the F-Pace boasts of good looks, loads of tech wizardry and also the InControl Touch Pro system that is becoming standard across all JLR models. Power will come from the same Ingenium engine family while the 3.0-litre supercharged motor from the F-Type will also be on offer. A price tag close to Rs. 65 lakhs (ex-showroom) is expected.

The Jaguar XE will be arriving in the country via the CKD route and assembled at the JLR plant in Pune, helping keep the prices competitive. As a result, expect prices to start around Rs. 38 lakhs (ex-showroom) on the XE. Internationally, Jaguar is offering the sedan in five variants including Pure, R-Sport, S, Prestige and Portfolio while a host of driver assistance systems are also offered as standard.
