Jeep Meridian Booking
The Meridian is expected to look slightly different than the Commander sold overseas

The official booking process of the Jeep Meridian should commence soon

Jeep India’s dealers have started the unofficial booking process for the Meridian 3-row SUV as the model’s launch is scheduled to happen in May.

The token amount varies from place to place, but prospective customers should expect to pay around Rs. 50,000/- to block one unit of the soon-to-be launched premium SUV.

The 3-row SUV will look different from the model on which it is based, none other than the Jeep Compass, not only in terms of size (it is obviously bigger than the 5-seater car), but in terms of looks too.

Jeep has given the model a different exterior, while the interior of the premium SUV will be largely based on the Compass, save for the seating arrangement as the Meridian is likely to come with both 6- and 7-seat options.

In terms of features, the SUV should come with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, wireless device charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof and several others.

Jeep Meridian Interior Seating
The SUV will rival the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and the like and will be priced accordingly too

When Jeep launches the SUV, it is expected to offer the car with only a 2.0-litre turbodiesel motor which should be tuned to produce more power and torque than it does in the Compass (173 HP and 350 Nm).

The engine is set to be paired with a 6-speed manual, while a 9-speed automatic transmission will also be on offer. Both 2- and 4-wheel drive versions of the SUV will be put on sale too.

Later, the American brand is likely to launch petrol variants of the Meridian which will likely be powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol motor making 187 HP and 270 Nm.
