Jeep adds sliding second-row seats to Meridian without changing prices
Jeep has updated the Meridian for the 2026 model year in India by adding a sliding second-row seat function to select variants. The change applies only to the higher-spec Limited (O) and Overland trims, while the rest of the range continues without this feature. Notably, there is no price revision across the Meridian lineup following the update.
New Second-Row Functionality
The new sliding mechanism works with the SUV’s 60:40 split seat arrangement. Jeep says that two-thirds of the seat can move up to 130 mm, while the remaining section can be adjusted by up to 140 mm. The manufacturer claims this enhances third-row occupant space, addressing a commonly raised concern regarding the Meridian’s rear-most seating.
The base Longitude and Longitude Plus trims do not receive this feature, and their seating configuration remains unchanged. While Longitude offers a 5-seat layout, all other trims come with seven seats.
Variant & Pricing Overview
Prices remain identical to the previous model year across manual, automatic and AWD variants. The Limited (O) and Overland trims equipped with the sliding seat function start at Rs. 30.01 lakhs and Rs. 35.61 lakhs (ex-showroom) respectively.
Powertrain & Drivetrain
The Meridian continues without mechanical changes. It is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 170 HP and 350 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed torque converter automatic. All-wheel drive remains optional on the higher trims with the automatic gearbox.
Features & Equipment
Equipment levels are unchanged for MY26. The Meridian offers a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof and a 9-speaker Alpine audio setup. Safety features include 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS assistance and an electronic parking brake.
In the full-size SUV segment, the Jeep Meridian competes with rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq.
