Customer deliveries of the Jeep Meridian SUV will begin in June

Jeep has revealed more details about its soon-to-be launched Meridian premium SUV including the fact that bookings for the India-spec model will commence in May, while its market launch will take place in June.

The brand that comes under Stellantis’ fold claims the Meridian will have segment-defining features and capability and, (this is more important in India) best-in-segment comfort.

It will be a 7-seater for now

According to the American brand, the Meridian’s structure consists of 63 percent hot stamped and high-strength steel for robustness. Nonetheless, Jeep says the car will be equipped with over 60 safety features.

Every variant of the premium SUV will come with 6 airbags as standard. Further, technology like traction control, active yaw control, auto vehicle hold, electronic parking brake auto engagement, among several others are offered too.

Visually, the Jeep Meridian SUV will feature distinct 7 slot grille, all-LED lights, trapezoidal wheel arches, 18-inch dual tone alloy wheels, on the outside. It will come with a powered tailgate with customisable opening height, obstacle detection and anti-pinch sensing.

Inside, the 7-seater car will come with Emperador brown colour seat upholstery with quilting, tumbledown second row seats, reclining function for all 3 rows of seats, ventilated front chairs and panoramic sunroof.

Also, there will be a 10.1-inch touchscreen running the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Alpine sound system with 9-speakers, 360-degree camera, terrain modes – mud, sand, snow and auto – among others.

At launch the Jeep Meridian SUV will come powered by only a 2.0-litre turbodiesel. The car will be offered in 6-speed manual front-wheel drive (FWD), 9-speed automatic FWD and 9-speed automatic all-wheel drive variants.

According to Jeep, the Meridian can complete the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 10.8 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 198 km/hr. The SUV has a power-to-weight ratio of 95 PS per tonne.

As mentioned above, bookings of the SUV will begin in May. The SUV will arrive to Jeep’s dealerships across the country by mid-May, while deliveries will start after its launch in June 2022.
