KTM Launches The 390 Enduro R In India, Will Be Sold Alongside The Global Version
KTM has launched the international version of the 390 Enduro R in India. The international model will be homologated and hit the Indian roads in a few months. The international model will be sold alongside the India-spec model, probably for a higher price.
The KTM 390 Enduro R received a lot of online criticism because people were disappointed in the specs when the Austrian brand released them. The reason was that the 390 Enduro R is marketed as a better off-road motorcycle when compared to the 390 Adventure. However, the specs showed that the suspension travel would be the same as the 390 Adventure, being 200mm and 205mm at front and rear, respectively.
International-Spec KTM 390 Enduro R
The international spec Enduro R boasts a suspension travel of 230mm of travel and 273mm of ground clearance. This is significantly higher than the 390 Adventure. KTM mentioned that the reason for not giving the same off-roading capabilities to the Indian spec 390 Enduro R was the taller seat height of 890mm.
International Vs Indian-Spec
The Indian spec 390 Enduro R has a seat height of 860mm, which fits better the average Indians who have a height of 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches. However, the committed off-roaders are willing to look past the challenges and demand better capabilities.
Differences With The 390 Adventure
The KTM 390 Enduro R’s biggest difference is the graphics and styling changes when it comes to the Indian spec model. It gets unique off-road fairings and boasts a slimmer profile when compared to the 390 Adventure with the same 9-litre fuel tank. However, KTM hasn’t specifically revealed details as to what is different between the components other than optimization for tackling trickier surfaces.
Similarities With 390 Adventure
The KTM Enduro R shares a lot with the 390 Adventure, and that includes the same 399cc LC4c single-cylinder engine producing 46 HP and 39 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Other things, such as the 43mm USD with WP Apex Suspension, are the same as seen on the 390 Adventure. The brakes are also the same 285mm axial Bybre on the front and 240mm single-piston brakes at the back, and much more.
Outlook
This is why the KTM Enduro R’s global version will be sold alongside. In this manner, the people who want the Enduro R with the off-road prowess can still choose to experience it. It will be fascinating to observe whether the global version or the Indian version is sold more.
