KTM revealed the 890 Duke R recently at the 2019 EICMA show. The bike is on sale in the international market and is expected to hit the Indian showrooms by mid-2021.

The Austrian bike maker is currently selling the Duke 790 in India, which has seen very few takers thanks to the heavy price tag. It was imported in limited numbers via CKD with a price of Rs. 8.63 lakhs (ex-showroom). The 890 Duke R is the bigger sibling of Duke 790.

KTM is likely to replace the Duke 790 with 890 Duke R in India. Until the launch of the latter, KTM is expected to introduce the BS6 version of Duke 790 in India.

Powering the KTM 890 Duke R is a 890cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that produces 121 HP at 9250 RPM and 99 Nm of peak torque at 7750 RPM. This engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.

It is loaded with equipment including traction control with lean angle sensitivity, 3 riding modes, optional track mode, Cornering ABS and Supermoto mode.

Suspension duties are carried out by fully adjustable WP APEX 43 mm upside-down fork up front and fully adjustable WP APEX rear shock absorber.

The KTM 890 Duke R is expected to come with a price range of Rs. 10-11 lakhs (ex-showroom) in India. It will go up against the 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS.
