Land Rover is all set to launch its newest offering, the 2015 Discovery Sport in India by September. Dealers have already commenced accepting bookings for the luxury SUV.

The 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport was caught undergoing testing on the roads of Navi Mumbai more than a month back. Many details about the SUV weren’t known then, but now the dealers have officially started accepting bookings for the said vehicle. The Discovery Sport is all set to be launched in India on 2nd September next month. Also, CKD assembly operations of the vehicle have begun at the company’s facility in Pune.

The 2015 Discovery Sport will be offered with both petrol as well as diesel engines. The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged plant that churns out 250 PS of power while the oil-burner is a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder unit producing 180 PS of power. Both the engines will be mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that is also offered on the Range Rover Evoque. The Discovery Sport will also come with an all-wheel-drive system. The vehicle gets a 5+2 seating arrangement and it comes with features like panoramic sunroof, leather interiors, dual zone climate control et al.

The styling of the vehicle has hugely changed over the previous generation. Gone are the boxy looks and the SUV now boasts of a very sporty as well as masculine design with many touches borrowed from the Evoque. Talking about pricing, Land Rover will be positioning the Discovery Sport above the Freelander 2. We can expect it to have a starting price of approximately Rs. 50 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will be competing with the Audi Q5, Mercedes ML, Volvo XC60 and BMW X3.
