Electric mobility is surely on the right course now. Laureti Automotive Corporation, a London-based company, is planning to bring an electric SUV to India. Named as the DionX, the electric SUV might be launched here in 2021 as part of a clean mobility solution.

Laureti claims that the DionX electric SUV will have a driving range of 540 kms. However, there will be an endurance test for the EV in August where it will run from Leh in Jammu and Kashmir to Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The entire route spans over 6000 kms but will use less than 12 charging stations.

The Laureti DionX electric SUV and all of its components will be manufactured locally in India and the company is due for an investment to set up a production facility in Puducherry. The total investment is a whopping $370 million (roughly around Rs. 2577 crores). It will have an annual production capacity of 10,000 units initially and could be increased to 20,000 at a later stage.

Besides just the electric SUV, Laureti is also planning to introduce charging systems, which also includes home chargers. It will work proactively with the central and state governments to get up to one lakh charging points across the country.

According to Marcus Paleti, the CEO of the company, the DionX e-SUV will be capable of sprinting to 100 km/hr from a standstill in just 5.4 seconds. It will be launched in two trims and will be priced around Rs. 40 lakhs.
