Honda Elevate, Sold As Honda WR-V In Japan, Scores 5 Stars In Japan NCAP & Consistently Good Performance
Honda Elevate has scored 5 stars in the Japan NCAP. It is the first time the Japanese SUV, which is produced in India, has gone through crash testing. The Elevate is sold as the Honda WR-V in Japan. The SUV has scored a total of 176.23 points out of 193.8 points.
Preventive Safety Performance
In terms of Preventive Safety Performance, testing the ADAS features, it received an A rank, scoring 82.22 points out of the available 85.8 points. It scored a Level 5/5 in damage reduction brakes in daytime, night time, bicycles and at Intersections.
It also scored the same for lane departure prevention. The SUV scored a Level 4/5 for high-performance headlights and acceleration suppression when the pedal is accidentally applied.
Collision Safety Performance
The Collision Safety Performance is also impressive, with an A rank, scoring 86.01 points out of the available 100 points. The total score was calculated by adding the occupant protection score of 57.73 points, which was derived by subtracting the opponent vehicle’s score of 1.13 points from the car’s score of 58.86 points. This total was then combined with the pedestrian protection score of 28.28 points.
The Honda Elevate (known as WR-V in Japan) scored Level 5/5 in full wrap frontal collision for the driver and rear seat, offset front collision and for the side impact on the driver’s seat. It also scored the same for the pedestrian protection of legs.
The Elevate scored Level 4/5 in rear impact neck protection for driver and passenger seat, seat belt warning, and pedestrian protection concerning the head. Adding to the impressive score, it also received a rating of advanced, scoring 8 points out of the available 8 points for the automatic emergency accident reporting device.
The tests were conducted to check how the SUV will perform at speeds of 10 Km/hr, 20 Km/hr and 45 Km/hr and demonstrated consistent collision avoidance. Additionally, it also showed lane departure prevention with a 100% success rate. Honda uses a monocular camera for advanced systems like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.

This crash test score is a significant milestone, showing capabilities in the automotive market that can meet even international demands. The locally produced Japanese SUV can create a positive impact on sales.
