Mahindra introduces BE 6 Formula E Edition with motorsport styling
Mahindra has introduced a new special-edition version of the BE 6 called the BE 6 Formula E Edition. The FE2 variant is priced at Rs. 23.69 lakhs (ex-showroom) while the FE3 variant with additional features costs Rs. 24.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). Bookings open on January 14, 2026 and customer deliveries begin a month later on February 14.
The company is offering exclusive benefits for the first 999 customers, including a track-day experience and racing memorabilia, while three buyers will receive an opportunity to attend the 2026 London E-Prix, subject to visa approvals. Mahindra has also named Indian racer and Formula 2 winner Kush Maini as the brand ambassador for its Electric Origin SUV portfolio.
Positioning and Motorsport Context
Mahindra says the introduction of the Formula E Edition reflects the growing popularity of motorsport in India, where racing-related events, screenings and fan activities have become more frequent. The brand has a long motorsport history, including participation and race wins in Formula E and aims to connect this legacy with its road-going EV lineup.
Exterior and Design Updates
The BE 6 Formula E Edition features several visual changes inspired by motorsport. Updates include a redesigned front bumper with circular projectors, a gloss-black finish with contrast accents and four exterior colour choices. The SUV also gets 20-inch alloy wheels on the higher FE3 trim, orange-coloured brake callipers, spoilers at both ends and Formula E–themed decals across the body. The roof and bonnet carry “12 Stripe” graphics, while additional branding elements are placed on the windscreen and body panels.
Interior Enhancements
The cabin receives a racing-inspired treatment with orange accents, special edition plaques and branding integrated into the dashboard, seats and seat belts. There are also customised elements such as translucent door inserts, themed animations on startup and exterior sound profiles designed to mimic motorsport cues. A flap-style cover on the start/stop button adds to the motorsport-themed functionality.
Powertrain and Performance
The Formula E Edition retains the mechanical setup of the standard BE 6. It is powered by a 79 kWh battery paired with a motor generating 210 kW (282 BHP). Mahindra claims 0-100 km/hr in 6.7 seconds, a top speed of 202 km/hr and a real-world range of around 500 km. A boost mode enhances acceleration, while single-pedal driving and multi-level regeneration are included. Fast charging from 20 to 80 percent is possible in approximately 20 minutes using a 180 kW DC charger.
Technology Features
The BE 6 Formula E Edition offers dual 12.3-inch displays, a Snapdragon 8155 chipset, 5G connectivity, built-in OTT apps and wireless smartphone integration. The SUV also comes with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, along with connected features such as remote commands and cabin pre-cooling via the Me4U app.
Safety and Convenience
Safety equipment includes six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, blind-view monitoring, a 360-degree camera, brake-by-wire technology and a high-rigidity body shell. Convenience features include dual-zone climate control, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a powered driver seat, cooled storage and multiple fast-charging USB-C ports. The FE3 variant adds adaptive suspension, carpet projection lamps and 20-inch wheels.
Additional Offering: Ride-On Model
Alongside the SUV, Mahindra will also offer a Formula E Edition ride-on toy car for children, priced at Rs. 18,000 and available from April 2026. The company positions it as a way to introduce younger audiences to electric mobility.
