Mahindra Bolero Neo crash test score is 1 star for both adult & child occupants

In the latest round of Global NCAP’s Safer Cars for India programme, the Mahindra Bolero Neo has garnered attention for its 1-star rating in both adult and child protection categories.

The Bolero Neo underwent comprehensive testing, adhering to the latest protocols and achieved a total score of 20.26 out of a possible 34 points. Global NCAP’s report highlighted several critical findings, including concerns regarding the SUV’s structural stability, footwell area integrity and deficiencies in chest and feet protection for the driver. Notably, the vehicle lacked certain safety features like curtain airbags and seat belt reminders for all occupants, which contributed to its lower rating.

In terms of child occupant protection, the Bolero Neo scored 12.71 points out of a maximum of 49 points. The absence of three-point seat belts for all passengers, limited child restraint system options and the lack of a passenger airbag switch were significant factors affecting its performance in this area, despite demonstrating acceptable dynamic performance in child protection.

One noteworthy aspect highlighted in the assessment report is the presence of side-facing third-row seats in the Bolero Neo. Global NCAP emphasised that this seating arrangement falls short of safety expectations and represents a concern for occupant protection in the event of a collision.
