Mahindra has revealed the Gusto 125 ahead of its scheduled launch. It gets a bigger and more powerful engine along with some cosmetic tweaks while retaining all the features of the Gusto 110.

With the scooter market in the country continuously gaining numbers, competition is becoming intense. Companies are launching more and more new products to lure in more customers and get as big a chunk as possible of this growing market. Mahindra entered into the segment after it took over Kinetic and has been making scooters since then. But, until they launched the Gusto in 2014, they hadn’t got much success.

Now that the Gusto has become popular owing to its nifty features and value for money pricing, Mahindra has decided to come up with a higher powered version of the same to take the sales further up. Since the fight in the 110cc segment has become too intense, it is the 125cc space which the automakers are now targeting. Mahindra has done the same too by adding a 125cc engine to the Gusto.

The Gusto 125 gets a 124.57cc four stroke, air-cooled engine producing 8.5 BHP of power at 7000 RPM and 10 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM. It will continue to use the same CVT gearbox which is used on the Gusto 110. While the 110cc version delivers a company claimed 62 km/l, the 125cc version is expected to deliver close to 60 km/l. In order to differentiate the latter from the former, the scooter gets some visual changes.

At the front, the apron gets a slightly different design with false vents in a different arrangement. The only changes to the side profile are the addition of the 125 badge below the Gusto badge and a chrome strip near the badging on the 125cc variant. The black coloured scooter gets a brown seat cover whereas the other colours make do with a black cover. To add more zing to the package, Mahindra will be offering the Gusto 125 in four colours of which two are dual tone paint jobs with graphics. With the reveal done already, a launch can be expected soon.
