Mahindra Scorpio-N scores full marks in Global NCAP crash test

Mahindra Scorpio-N has finally been tested in Global NCAP and the crash test results show a healthy five star rating for the SUV. The Indian UV maker claims it becomes the first body-on-frame SUV to secure 5-star Global NCAP rating.

The SUV scored full 5 stars for Adult Occupant Protection (29.25 out of 34) and 3 stars for Child Occupant Protection (28.93 out of 49). These tests were conducted under Global NCAP’s latest crash test protocols.

The protection offered to the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck was rated as good. Driver’s and passenger’s chest showed marginal protection. Driver’s and passenger’s knees showed good protection. Driver’s tibias showed adequate protection and passenger’s tibias showed adequate and marginal protection.

Footwell area was rated as stable. The bodyshell was rated as stable and is capable of withstanding further loadings.

In the side impact test – head, chest, abdomen and pelvis protection was good. In the side pole impact curtain airbags meet the fitment requirements and pole impact test was performed in a version with side head protection airbags, showing good protection to the head, abdomen and pelvis and weak protection to the chest.

The car’s ESC meets the fitment rate requirements and the performance shown in the test was acceptable according to Global NCAP’s latest requirements.

This is Mahindra’s third SUV after XUV700 and XUV300 to score 5 star safety rating.
