The made-in-India Mahindra Thar gets an Adventure variant in South Africa, priced at Rs. 14.12 lakhs.

The Mahindra Thar Adventure has been launched in South Africa, priced at R293,999 (Rs. 14,11,601/-). It gets a slew of additional equipment over the model sold in India. The Thar comes with a unique front bumper with an integrated bull bar and LED lights from Bundu Gear, which is designed to improve the SUV’s 44-degree approach angle. The Thar Adventure series also gets brightly coloured tow points, snorkel and rock sliders as standard. Diamond-plated metal side-steps are standard too.

The SUV gets a new rear bumper too, which has visible recovery points and a tow bar. A removable hardtop sourced from Getec is also offered in the 4×4. The Mahindra Thar Adventure comes with alloy wheels mounted on Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tyres. In South Africa, the vehicle comes with a mechanical differential lock at the rear and auto-locking front hubs. The SUV even offers a Borg Warner 4×4 hardware with a shift-on-fly mechanism, that lets you choose between 4×2 and 4×4 in high and low range.

The Mahindra Thar Adventure is available in Rocky beige, red Rage or DSAT silver colour options in the South African market. On the inside, it gets front cup-holders, air-conditioning, power steering and a 12V power socket. The off-roader comes powered by a 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine which delivers 105 BHP and 247 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
