Mahindra Thar AX AWD, LX Variants With Convertible Top Discontinued
Mahindra has discontinued the variants which offered convertible top. The reports suggest these include the AX AWD variants, and the LX variant which featured an open differential. This reduces the total number of 11 variants for the potential buyers.
The Mahindra Thar was previously available with 19 variants which has dropped. This means that the entry level AX trim will be RWD-only, powered by 1.5-litre diesel engine. Interestingly, pricing remains unchanged.
The Mahindra Thar’s price starts from Rs. 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The range topping LX AT Earth Edition variant features the 2.2-litre diesel engine and 4WD. Mahindra Thar is expected to get a facelift (codenamed W515) soon and it is expected that it will borrow design cues from the 5-door Thar Roxx.
The facelifted Thar can also borrow various features such as the larger infotainment system, sunroof for Hardtop variants and digital instrument cluster. However, no mechanical changes are expected on the off-road centric SUV.
