The Mahindra TUV500 is essentially a long wheelbase version of the TUV300

Mahindra TUV500 has been spied testing again in Chennai, revealing its interiors. The test mule spotted is a base variant courtesy those steel wheels it sported. On closer look it is evident those are the old Scorpio’s tail lamps. The SUV was spotted by MotorBeam reader Shakthi Vadivel.

The Mahindra TUV500 measures over 4 metres in length and is being built on a new platform. It is expected to be powered by the same 2.2-litre engine that does duty in the Scorpio. The 2.2-litre diesel motor in the Scorpio currently produces 120 HP and 280 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual only.

Essentially, a long wheelbase version of the existing TUV300, the TUV500 will be getting proper front facing third-row seats. The interiors however are a lift from the smaller TUV300, but Mahindra is expected to load the TUV500 with some additional features like foldable second and third-row seats, rear AC vents, automatic climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system.

Mahindra is expected to launch the TUV500 by the last quarter of this year.
